The JIPM TPM Excellence Awards Checklists

Global recognition for your world class operations management System.

TPM is more than just a bolt on machine maintenance program for your lean manufacturing activities.  But may be hard to understand how it differs from what you are doing, but actually if you have a good Lean Manufacturing system that is based on the Toyota Production system, you already have some of the TPM systems and tools in your hand.

Many organizations view the JIPM TPM checklist as an award audit tool. The “JIPM TPM Awards Outline”, which is published and updated annually, includes six detailed checklists that are used to define the systems for each level of the TPM Excellence awards.

These checklists are one of the most valuable TPM deployment guides available. The checklist helps to concisely describe the scope of what TPM entails. Many of us see TPM as an enhanced maintenance program but TPM covers all key aspects of world class operations management.

The JIPM TPM Excellence Award checklists evaluate much more than equipment maintenance. They assess leadership, focused improvement, autonomous maintenance, planned maintenance, quality systems, engineering development, product development, office and administrative activities, training, Human resource development, safety, and the sustainability of results.

The best TPM organizations don't wait until assessment year to use these checklists. They use them throughout their TPM journey as a management roadmap and self-assessment tool. As a matter of fact, one of the JIPM provided checklists is entitled “The Self Checklist”.

A strong TPM system is built by continuously closing checklist gaps—not by preparing for an audit.

The checklist doesn't just measure TPM maturity. It helps create it.

If you wish to see all the checklists, you can them in section 6 of the JIPM TPM Awards Outline 2026,
